The great Italian director Luchino Visconti, who has always been in love with Ischia, bought in the 50s a wonderful villa overlooking the sea in the middle of the park of Zaro called La Colombaia.

He transformed it into his “buen retiro” and, recently known, his secluded burial site. In his life at the Colombaia, in the Municipality of Forìo of Ischia, Visconti became a great lover of local wines with a particular predilection for Biancolella. At his refined table, in addition to satisfying his personal pleasure, Visconti presented Biancolella practically to all the greatest film and theatre artists he had among his select guests.
