The name “Cannonau” could derive from the Greek name “Kanonizo” which means exchange value. This means that the wine was then used as a unit of exchange and payment (which is probable for the Shardana populations which produced wine in Sardinia and could use it for the exchange of goods or payment in their shipments). Another characteristic of Cannonau is that it possesses a high value of Procyanidisis, a powerful antioxidant that, asserted with measure but constancy, is an effective anti-aging.
