Sant’Arcangelo di Romagna was the birthplace of Tonino Guerra, a great Italian poet, writer and screenwriter. Today Sant’Arcangelo is a town of about 22,000 inhabitants in the province of Rimini on the border with the province of Forlì Cesena, but we see better the links between the famous Tonino Guerra and his native country. Guerra has always remained very close to his homeland despite having travelled, throughout his eclectic activities, throughout the world. He loved Sangiovese di Romagna which he believed to have been born in San’Arcangelo. For passion he began to paint labels for local wines and in particular Sangiovese di Romagna. Often in Sant’Arcangelo, in a restaurant that he loved a lot, he organized magnificent dinners with local dishes combined with Sangiovese di Romagna. Many friends were included, like Federico Fellini, Michelangelo Antonioni, Francesco Rosi and Marcello Mastroianni who loved the combination tagliatelle romagnole with Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore. Then the Enoteca dell’Emilia Romagna, which is located in the magnificent Rocca di Dozza, entrusted him with the role of testimonial of Sangiovese di Romagna. Guerra tells us this sentence: “… the true voice of my land is that which sings with its wines …”.
